Anthropic expanded its Cyber Verification Program on October 6, creating three access tiers for vetted organizations and practitioners using Claude for defensive security work. The company says the redesign is intended to reduce friction for legitimate users while preserving stronger checks for higher-risk capabilities.

Defense, Red Team and Specialized access

The Defense tier covers organizations protecting their own systems. Red Team access is designed for authorized offensive testing, while the Specialized tier is reserved for work Anthropic considers more sensitive. Eligibility and verification requirements differ by tier, and access remains subject to Anthropic's review.

Anthropic says partner deployments have identified 129,000 vulnerabilities and that its own scans found more than 5,500, with over 33,000 classified as high or critical across the broader program evidence it cites. These figures are company-reported and partly survey-derived; they were not independently audited in this review.
