Barclays and Anthropic announced an expanded collaboration on October 1. The bank targets Claude Code adoption by half its developers by the end of 2026 and a majority during 2027.
Existing deployment and future targets
Anthropic says Barclays' knowledge assistant has more than 16,000 users, while its Global Markets email-routing platform processes about 120,000 messages daily. These are partner disclosures. The engineering targets are future adoption goals, not current completed rollout.
The announcement includes Barclays executives' statements about legacy modernization, governance and human oversight. No independent measurement of productivity gains or control effectiveness accompanied the source.
