NVIDIA announced on October 13 a five-year commitment valued at $250 million in accelerated computing access to support agentic safety and security research in the United Kingdom. NVIDIA says the program will provide about $50 million in compute access annually through BOLD at the University of Oxford, the SOFAIR lab at University College London, and Imperial College London.

Compute access, not a cash grant

The commitment is described as computing resources rather than cash paid to the institutions. UCL separately said SOFAIR would use NVIDIA-provided computing resources to advance safety research. The program expands access to hardware and infrastructure for research, though the announcement does not publish a complete recipient allocation or independent valuation method.

NVIDIA says operational and commercial details still need to be agreed with the organizations. The $250 million valuation and the annual access estimate are company-provided figures, not money already spent.
