OpenAI announced on September 23 that ChatGPT Ads is beginning to roll out in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. The company says the expansion takes its advertising product to more than 60 countries.

Access expands through agencies and self-service tools

OpenAI says advertisers can work through its Ads Solutions team, agency partners and technology partners, while eligible businesses can use a self-service Ads Manager. The company describes the expansion as a new commercial channel for businesses across Southeast Asia and Taiwan.

Placement and privacy claims remain company policy

The company says ads appear only for users on ChatGPT Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro and Enterprise remain ad-free. It also says advertisers do not receive user conversations and that ads do not influence ChatGPT answers. Those are OpenAI’s stated product policies, not an independent audit of ad delivery or privacy controls.

OpenAI also repeats that ChatGPT Ads reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate at the end of August. Reuters previously reported that milestone, attributing it to OpenAI; neither source provides audited revenue statements for the advertising business.
