OpenAI announced GPT‑6 for the ChatGPT Chat experience on October 7, pairing the model rollout with Intelligent UI, a capability that composes responses from text, visuals and native interactive components such as charts, forms and controls.

Paid tiers first, free access next

The company says rollout began globally for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, with Free and Go tiers scheduled to begin receiving it on October 8. Paid tiers use GPT‑6 Sol while Free and Go use GPT‑6 Luna, both tuned for everyday conversation.

OpenAI explicitly limited the scope to ChatGPT's Chat experience: the models powering Work and Codex are not changing in this release. Claims that GPT‑6 starts web-search answers 44% sooner on average than GPT‑5.6 Instant come from OpenAI's internal evaluation and have not been independently reproduced here.
