TypeSafe AI announced on October 9 that it raised an $870 million Series A at a $7.5 billion valuation. The company says Andreessen Horowitz led the financing, with Sequoia Capital, existing investor DCVC and angel investors participating. TypeSafe also said a16z general partner Martin Casado would join its board.

A very large first round for a specialized model startup

TypeSafe is developing Jev, which it describes as a System One model that returns typed values for software to consume. The financing announcement says the company intends to expand its model and developer infrastructure work. The $870 million is capital raised, while the $7.5 billion figure is the stated post-financing valuation; neither is company revenue or evidence of money already spent.

The lead investor separately confirmed that a16z led the investment. TypeSafe and a16z publish differing estimates of Fortune 500 adoption, so this article excludes those unverified customer-penetration claims rather than treating them as audited usage.
