Danaher announced plans for its first AI-powered autonomous lab, based at Abcam and expected to operate at scale in early 2027. The system is intended to design, build and test custom antibodies and other affinity reagents in a continuous learning loop.

The planned lab connects technologies from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, Cytiva, Genedata, Integrated DNA Technologies and Molecular Devices. Danaher says Automata supplied device orchestration and robotic automation, while scientists will continue making key decisions.

Danaher projects up to eight-times faster affinity-reagent discovery and as much as a tenfold increase in annual reagent generation. Those are forward-looking company targets, not independently measured operating results; the lab is not yet running at its planned scale.
