Digital Divide Data has opened a Global Capability Center in Dehradun, India, extending its AI data-services footprint into a city outside the country’s largest technology hubs. In an official company update, DDD said the center had been operating since August and had already onboarded 150 colleagues. The update describes the site as a base for Physical AI, robotics, and other AI data services.

The work behind physical AI

Express Computer reported that the Dehradun center will collect and annotate egocentric video, sensor, and multimodal datasets used to help machine-learning systems understand real-world environments. Its broader remit includes data curation, low-resource language services, LLM fine-tuning support, model evaluation, and data preparation and validation. These are production and evaluation functions rather than a new foundation-model release, highlighting the operational labor needed to turn AI systems into deployable products.

An India talent and delivery bet

DDD says the site is its first GCC in India and is located at Doon IT Park in Uttarakhand. The company’s stated hiring model emphasizes fresh graduates and local candidates who receive structured training before live production work. Express Computer reports a target of 800 to 1,000 employees in the coming months, while the Times of India separately reported the opening and the roughly 150 people already on board.

The center gives DDD a new regional delivery base for global AI and robotics customers, but the public announcements do not identify customer contracts, revenue, or measurable model improvements tied specifically to Dehradun. Those outcomes remain to be demonstrated as hiring and operations scale.
