OpenAI announced Dots on September 29 as always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. The company says each Dot has a cloud computer, can connect to more than 4,000 apps through its plugin ecosystem, and can work across ChatGPT, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
A staged product rollout
OpenAI says Dots are beginning to roll out to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets. Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare workspaces can try a beta when an administrator enables it; the beta is off by default. The first Dot is included with qualifying plans, according to the announcement.
Permissions and review remain central
OpenAI describes app permissions, read-only proactive research, progress monitoring, configurable action rules, and review of consequential actions. These are product safeguards as described by the company; the release does not provide independent testing of their effectiveness.
